Legal Advice
Q: I was hurt on the job, what should I do?
A: First, you need to immediately report your injury in writing to your employer. Should you fail to immediately provide written notification, your employer may dispute that the injury is work-related down the road. Your employer should next provide you with a list of at least three (3) medical providers for treatment (paid for by your employer). You can then choose one of the medical providers to be your treating physician for your injury.
If you are forced to miss work due to your injury or have suffered a permanent impairment, you may be entitled to disability payments. Workers' compensation issues can vary widely depending on the particular circumstances of your case, so you should speak with a lawyer concerning your situation.
